Happy Birthday, Too Blue?

Last Sunday was the birthday of my sassy swedish friend and housemate Melina.

And what do Birthdays mean? CAKE!!

Every year I make Mel an extravagant birthday cake and this year was no exception.

Alas, the Blue Ombre Cake. (excuse the horrid IPhone snaps)

The whole time I was making this I was singing The Little Mermaids Under the Sea while on a massive sugar high from all the blue frosting that I was periodically (frequently) sampling.

I couldn't find any piping bags at my local supermarket; So instead I used giant Zip Lock bags and cut a small corner off - it did the trick!

  4. That looks awesome! I love ombre cakes and that piping technique you have used looks awesome. I use ziplock bags a lot instead of piping bags. The only thing I find is that sometimes they split because they are thinner than piping bags.
